
'Uric acid and preventive measures and its treatment methods according to Ayurveda... Now a day many of the people especially men are suffering due to increased uric acid and health issues because of this. 1) What is uric acid? Uric acid is a waste byproduct. It’s formed when your body breaks down purines, which are found in some foods. Purines show up when cells die and get taken apart. Most of the uric acid and other acids like lactic acids, keto acids leaves your body when you pee, and some when you poop. 2) How this uric acid becomes a health issue? If our food contains more amount of \"purine\", the chances for high production of uric acid is also high. Purine is a chemical compound that is present in our normal daily diet. The excessive production of uric acid will lead to conversion of uric acid into urate crystals…these crystals are difficult to expel out through urine and later it will deposit in smaller joints. This condition is called as gout/gouty arthritis. According to Ayurveda this condition can be correlate to \"vata rakta\"… this is the condition when the vata dushti and rakta dushti is happening simultaneously… 3) Symptoms? The main symptoms are severe pain in the joint just above the big toe of leg. The patient can\'t put a blanket or socks on leg4). The pain is like pricking with a needle. The uric acid attack comes like episodes. Once it starts pain it will lasts for some days after that it will subside. Then for some days there will no symptoms and difficulties...after some days it will again starts aching. Most of them will feel temperature, inflammation, tenderness over the joints. In some patients there will be reddish or blackish discolorations. In some cases there will be itching and also circular patches all over body. Actually the pain starts from one joint and spread to other joints. The main joints that effects this uric acid attacks are ankle joint, knee joint, elbow joint, shoulder joint, wrist joint etc. Causes? The main for the increase of uric acid is improper diet and regimen Due to improper diet: The excessive consumption of salty, sour and spicy foods. While taking half cooked food. Excessive intake of sea foods especially small fishes like mackerel and all also crab, prawns etc. ( due to high purine content), Regular intake of artificially made sweet foods (fructose) like carbonated drinks, juices, bakeries. Alcohol consumption especially beer (due to the presence of alcohol). Daily consumption of pickles, preserved, and food contains vinegar. Regular intake of organ meat like liver, gut or brain of animals. In obese condition it is more prone to these conditions. Some pulses like horse gram, urad dal, because these pulses will increase pitta dosha in body that\'s how more chances to raktadushti. Some leafy vegetables like cauliflower,spinach. Due to daily regimen: Day time sleep, Night awakens, Excessive exercise and also lack of exercise, Direct exposure to intense sunlight regularly. What diet we can follow? Eat more fiber rich foods. Include barley, wheat in daily diet, and Include ghee in daily diet. Though it balance pitta dosha rakta dushti also can be managed. Take soup made of pulses like chana dal, green gram etc along with ghee. Drink cow’s milk or goat\'s milk daily. Eat some varieties of spinach ie, climbing spinach, spinach with thorns and also vegetables like pumpkin, bittergourd will help to reduce uric acid What all regimen should we follow? Do mild exercise at least for 10min daily, Keep soft pillows, Try to lie on even bed, Sleep at night calmly, Avoid day sleep. Home remedies that we can easily done at home. The most effective medicine for this condition is kokilakshadi kashaya. In this kashaya \" kokilaksha\" is the common herb that we can see in our land. Whole plant (including roots) is taken and wash well, either cut into pieces or make a paste. Boil with adequate water and reduce to its quarter part. This kashaya should take 2 times a day. Eat some varieties of spinach i.e., climbing spinach, spinach with thorns and also vegetables like pumpkin, bitter gourd will help to reduce uric acid Apply Shatadhauta Ghrita as a pain relief balm.
