
'A chemical known as BPA, found in many of the world’s food and drink cans, has been linked to cancer and other health problems, and it’s now banned in several countries. Researchers at the paint and coatings company Sherwin-Williams have now developed a chemical that, based on lab tests, they believe is safer than BPA. It’s called TMBPF, and the company has worked with independent scientists to minimize controversy around the chemical’s impact. The company already sells the new lining for cans, but a question lingers: Will its high price, about twice BPA’s, preclude the chemical from widespread adoption?
