They have started a food chain offering affordable snacks, hoping to earn their livelihoods with dignity and respect. STORYLINE: Manimeghala is a transgender person who was thrown out of her home at the age of 18. A native of Salem district in the Southern Tamil Nadu state, she became a sex-worker to earn a living. It was a tough life - the stigma and prejudice associated with her sexual identity led to frequent harassment by police and discrimination everywhere she went. A chance encounter with the volunteers of the Transgender Trust of the Tamil Nadu AIDS Initiative ( TAI ) gave Manimeghala an option to transform her life. Manimeghala\'s day begins at 5 am every morning and ends late in the evening after the last customer has been served.
