'We experimented this year with planting a food plot in a wet area. Earlier in the season, it had some flooding and a lot of moisture. Many times, food plotters stay away from these types of areas. However, it\'s possible to make them work and make them attractive to whitetail deer. It\'s not only through one forage or plant. We were able to use the right fertilizer, strategies and techniques to stock pile winter forages for deer such as perennials like alfalfa and clover as well as bulbs like radishes, turnips and more. You can accomplish the same thing. Let us know what questions you have in the comments! Applying about 2 – 2 and a half weeks after planting 8-13-28-3. What is that? It actually is fertilizer where we\'re incorporating ammonium sulfate. Those of you guys that follow me know that I always say, 50 pounds ammonium sulfate per acre, per year – sweetens up what you\'re planting, helps convert the nitrogen. So, what we got behind me is actually a wetland area that wasn\'t able to be planted as early into some corn and beans the last three years. What we did is we kind of got a cocktail – cafeteria mix of sorts behind there. There is a little bit of beans that got interseeded out there as a nurse crop. And again, the rest of that mix is gonna be my Fall Draw – unique species like Ethiopian cabbage, forage turnip, radish, rutabaga, annual clovers, cold tolerant annual clovers, and my deer stand is over there to my right. Behind me is a big open field. You can see maybe behind there, might be able to see a round bale or two out there. Forages have actually been clipped out here. Bow stands over this direction to my left. We got a nice little plan for full season – early fall, mid season, late fall – stock pile winter feed. What you maybe can\'t see is at the end of this field, I got one acre of alfalfa. That\'s my winter feed. Yes, alfalfa – winter feed. Those in doubt, follow along, see the pictures in late December, January, February, and see where the deer are all eating out here. So, you can make anything work. Even this boggy, flooded mess that we aerated and we actually did a lot of work, we got this planted. Follow along. We got cell phone cameras, we\'ll be telling stories. Deer are already telling me they\'re loving what\'s out here. Pictures throughout the day. What\'s new with John with Grandpa Ray Outdoors.'
