'This is our first time planting a food plot for deer. For this Northern Michigan food plot we used an ATV (John Deere Gator) to pull a spike tooth drag. The little field we worked up with spike tooth implement was mostly grass and weeds so we wanted to get it worked up in the spring before it really thickened up. Although we didn\'t get the soil tested, we did still add lime and 12-12-12 fertilizer. We worked those in with the ATV equipment before spreading the mixed seed which we then raked in lightly to cover the seed. We finished it off with the Imperial Whitetail Clover seed just spread on top. We wanted to keep this cheap food plot for deer as inexpensive as possible while still getting good results.
