'Testing Soil for a food plot. In this video I show how I fill out a soil test kit to test for a summer cover crop mix for my clients deer food plot. The summer food plot will contain several legumes and several broadleaf plants and some grasses, so I get the test for soybean, sorghum and sunflowers to cover all my bases. Testing soil for food plots is a simple, cheap process that should be done every year until the soil has the right pH, the right nutrient balance and is growing good plants. The most important part of food plot preparation is the soil test. Planting food plots for deer is expensive and without a soil test and getting the soil amendments like lime, fertilizer and compost on your food plot, the time and expense of planting food plots for deer could be wasted.'
