'Jason Tronbak takes you through the steps of planting late season deer food plots. In this video, I\'m planting Millborn\'s Green Beast (formerly \"Brassica Blend\") and Frosty Feed. JASON TRONBAK: I\'m back out here actually by my tree stand. We showed some earlier clips here when I was out here spraying with RoundUp. Out here push mowing the site. In hindsight, I wish I would have used a tractor mower. It was a bigger area than I thought but I got the job done with the mower. I just got done rototilling the site. I had my friend come out here with his rototiller to get the whole area worked up...about the top 6 inches got worked up. I took an old pallet and drug it behind the four wheeler for a while to get it level and firmed up a bit. I\'m ready to plant now so I\'m going to use a typical lawn fertilizer spreader to put the seed out here. I\'m going to use two different mixes out here. I\'m going to use Millborn\'s Brassica Blend, which is Millborn\'s mixture of a lot of New Zealand hybrid brassicas like Winfred and Hunter and Graza Radish. There\'s some traditional Purple Top Turnips and some Radish and Rape too. This is 10lb bag which covers 1 acre. Since this is a extremely challenging site, I\'m going to put some of Millborn\'s Frosty Feed out here. Frost Feed is a mixture of some Willow Creek forage winter wheat, forage rye grain, forage oats, and Australian winter peas in this mix. This is a 50lb bag which is a 1 acre bag. I\'m just going to throw both of them out here. I\'m going to show a close up of the site. The soil we are dealing with here is extremely sandy, gravely site. In fact, this area used to be an old gravel pit that got reclaimed. So the kind of soil we are dealing with is basically straight gravel, sandy soil. So I\'m going to throw both of these out here together and hopefully get a good catch out on both here. When you get into some challenging sites, you might as well throw some different mixes out here. Hopefully each one fills a little niche out here. Right now I\'m going to take the spreader and load up some of the seed...and spread it out. I have some starter fertilizer I\'m going to put on with it. I\'m going to take this pallet again and go across it a couple more times to get the seed worked in no deeper than a half inch. Hopefully we will get some rain and we should be set. It\'s about mid-August, second week in August here in South Dakota. A perfect time to plant some of these late-season food plots. Here is the finished food plot all drug and planted. Now we hopefully wait for some rain and get this growing! ---- Part 1: Spraying, General Site Preparation http://youtu.be/A_gJzkQtSMw Part 3: On the Hunt http://youtu.be/v68yn6gTUvI More information available at http://www.millbornseeds.com/wildlife.htm'
