'Plastic is wonderful, except when it isn’t.    As a pollutant, microplastics can be harmful to the environment and to the health of people and animals. Scientists are just in the early stages of studying the potential problems associated with the breakdown of plastic, and figuring out possible ways to reduce the harm it causes.   As a concerned citizen and artist, my goal for this “new food pyramid” multi-media sculpture is to bring awareness and to inspire change.   We can all play a part; whether you switch the products you use/buy, drive less, wash your clothes less/by hand, or write to public policy makers, YOU can make a difference! As consumers, we can vote with our dollars and support companies that are making an effort to keep microplastics out of their products and packaging; hence out of our bodies, animals, marine life and waterways.'
